Aurrum Kids welcomes the upcoming Child Care Subsidy (CCS) changes, set to take effect on 5 January 2026, making early learning more affordable and accessible for families across Australia. These updates will provide greater financial relief, improved access to early childhood education, and enhanced workforce participation support for parents.
Key Changes to the Child Care Subsidy
- Three-Day Guarantee – All CCS-eligible families will receive three days (72 hours per fortnight) of subsidised childcare, regardless of their work or study commitments.
- More Support for First Nations Families – 100 hours of subsidised care per fortnight for each child.
- Increased Support for Working Families – Parents working, studying, or volunteering over 48 hours a fortnight will continue to receive 100 hours of subsidised care per fortnight.
- Higher Subsidies for Multiple Children – Families with more than one child under five in care will continue receiving a higher subsidy for younger children (up to a 95% subsidy).
- Government Investment in Early Education – Additional funding will support wage increases for early childhood educators, ensuring high-quality and sustainable childcare services.
Updated Subsidy Rates & Income Thresholds
The amount of CCS a family receives depends on income levels and the number of children in care:
- Families earning up to $83,280 will receive a 90% subsidy on childcare fees.
- Families earning between $83,280 and $533,280 will see a gradual decrease in the subsidy, with a 1% reduction for every $5,000 earned above $83,280.
- Families with multiple children under five in care will receive an additional 30% subsidy (up to a maximum of 95%) for their younger child(ren).
These updates aim to reduce out-of-pocket costs and help more parents return to work or study without the financial strain of high childcare fees.
What This Means for Families
With higher subsidies and guaranteed access to at least three days of care per week, more Australian children will benefit from early education opportunities that support cognitive, social, and emotional development. For parents, these changes provide greater flexibility to re-enter or expand their participation in the workforce, alleviating financial pressure on households.
