Penrith Aurrum Kids is a spacious child care centre featuring high ceilings and large gabled windows that immerse the open spaces with sunlight and warmth. Our open classrooms extend onto a generous playground with covered decks, a sustainability hub showcasing a native bee hive and kitchen gardens, and all weather surfaces, offering children a safe place to explore the great outdoors.
Sitting on the land of the original custodians, the Darug people, Penrith Aurrum Kids is 56km west of Sydney’s CBD, located against the stunning backdrop of the World Heritage Blue Mountains. Penrith Aurrum Kids makes full use of its natural surroundings and the ample educational sites and galleries nearby. Children at Penrith Aurrum Kids fully immerse themselves in their local community by enjoying educational excursions to the Museum of Fire, the Penrith Museum of Printing, the Joan Sutherland Performing Arts Centre, and the Penrith Regional Gallery.
Our modern centre is filled with engaging activities and sensory-rich play equipment that encourages children to develop confidence and independence. Penrith Aurrum Kids offers something for every child, no matter whether they are a blossoming artist, gardener, cook, athlete, musician or bookworm. Children at Penrith Aurrum Kids are constantly kept busy by our art classrooms brimming with craft supplies, cooking lessons, rainbow bike track, water and creek play area, climbing equipment and our sustainability hub. All of our activities are designed to provide children with a tactile and safe environment that inspires them to embrace their natural curiosity and love of learning, while also building lasting friendships with the other children.
The rich cultural history of Penrith is reflected amongst the Aurrum Kids team and students. We organise numerous cultural celebrations throughout the year, giving the children an opportunity to learn about their friends’ cultures and celebrate their traditions beside them. Enhancing the breadth of experience for the children is the opportunity for intergenerational engagement in our Grandfriends program partnering with a local care home. Our Grandfriends program is a weekly highlight for both the children and the care home residents as it is a time where lasting friendships, experiences and memories are built.
Our on-site cook prepares fresh meals daily in our purpose-built kitchen. As nutrition plays a fundamental role in nurturing children’s growth and development, our rotating menu is produced in collaboration with our partner paediatric dietitians. We use seasonal ingredients that are often harvested by the children from our very own herb and vegetable gardens – a real playground to plate experience! The children also regularly participate in cooking their own meals with the assistance of our cook. Our cooking classes allow children to learn about the importance of nutritious and balanced meals, while also having plenty of fun in the kitchen.

Giving your child their best start
At Aurrum Kids relationships with children, families and community underpin our teams’ vision and values, creating a true sense of family and inclusiveness at all our centres.
Our dietician reviewed four-week rotating menu changes seasonally for variety while consistently providing nutritious meals for children, that will regularly extend into cooking experiences by the children with our centre-based cooks.
Aurrum Kids is the start of your child’s learning pathway with play-based, inquisitive explorations of the space around them. Adding to this, our educators and the natural resources in our centres will ensure your child grows and develops.
